TinyTemp – Ultra-Low-Power Thermometer

Embedded SystemsLow Power DesignMicrocontrollersSensors

A battery-efficient ATtiny85-based digital thermometer with OLED display and multi-month battery life.

TinyTemp is a compact, low-power embedded thermometer designed to operate continuously for months on a small battery. Built around an ATtiny85 microcontroller, TMP36 temperature sensor, and SSD1306 OLED display, the system provides precise temperature readouts in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. I designed the circuit, optimized firmware for ultra-low power operation, implemented display control, and added overheat warning functionality. Special attention was given to sleep modes, voltage regulation, and battery discharge behavior to meet multi-month runtime goals. This project demonstrates efficient embedded design, peripheral integration, and real-world power optimization in a minimal hardware footprint.
