FSAE Vehicle Telemetry System
MotorsportsEmbedded SystemsSensorsData AcquisitionAutomotive Engineering
A full-stack sensor and data acquisition architecture for real-time performance monitoring on a Formula SAE race car.
As Electronics Captain for the Minutemen Racing Formula SAE team, I led the design of a comprehensive vehicle telemetry system to monitor engine performance, drivetrain behavior, and vehicle dynamics in real time.
The system integrates sensors for RPM, throttle position, manifold pressure, exhaust gas temperature, coolant and oil conditions, wheel speeds, suspension travel, braking pressure, and inertial motion. I selected sensing technologies, defined signal conditioning requirements, and planned data acquisition and communication architectures suitable for high-vibration motorsport environments.
This project established the foundation for data-driven tuning, reliability tracking, and race performance optimization while training a subteam in practical embedded sensing and system integration.
